On 21st December, 2023. The Lead-Her team engaged with the head teacher, other teachers, Primary Education Advisor (PEA) and students at Mombo Primary School to explain its programs and pinpoint some of the obstacles that prevent rural girls from pursuing higher education. After consulting with the teachers and the PEA who served as the event's guest of honor, they determined that one of the main obstacles keeping girls from reaching goals is a lack of mentorship which lead to fewer girls from rural communities succeed in primary and secondary school because many of these young girls lack role models who can encourage them to pursue their education. Additionally, we found that not a single Mombo Primary student was selected for enrollment at a national secondary school. In light of this, Lead-Her has made a commitment to mentor the young girls at Mombo Primary, encouraging them to set ambitious goals for themselves in their pursuit of realizing their dreams. Our approach to implementation is more participatory because we are utilizing the teacher's existing experience to support them in the mentoring process.
